Policies and Procedures

Counsellors at FCS subscribe to the BACP, British Association for Counselling
and Psychotherapy, ‘Ethical Framework for Good Practice, regarding the
confidential nature of the counselling process and other matters of ethics and
practice. Copies of the ‘Ethical Framework of Good Practice for Counsellors and Psychotherapists’, are available to staff generally and service users upon request.

Policies and Guidelines

FCS operates a range of policies and Counselling Service Guidelines (CSGs 1-9), to ensure the professional and ethical working standards of the service. Copies of policies are available in the centre and upon request. There is a complaints and grievance policy, which exists to provide clear guidelines and procedures for addressing and resolving complaints, which may breach the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Equal Opportunities

FCS is an ‘Equal Opportunities’ organisation that seeks to exercise the best
possible stewardship of its resources in helping people regardless of age, class, culture, gender, marital status, physical ability, race, religion, or sexual preference. Care is taken to ensure that clients with a disability can, as far as possible, be accommodated at the centre. We do our best to ensure that current legislation relating to areas of disability, discrimination and equal opportunity are followed. We endeavour to define our demographic population through research and the use of equal opportunity and general survey questionnaires, which informs our service provision.
